Bankruptcy Attorney (Creditor Representation)

A national legal practice is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney to join its growing creditor-rights and bankruptcy team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience representing institutional creditors in Texas bankruptcy courts who is looking for a sophisticated, high-volume practice with remote flexibility.

The attorney in this role will manage bankruptcy matters from inception through resolution, with a focus on protecting secured-creditor rights in Chapters 7, 11, and 13 proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent institutional mortgage lenders and loan servicers in bankruptcy matters.
  • Handle all phases of bankruptcy cases, including:
    • Proofs of claim
    • Motions for relief from stay
    • Plan review and objections
    • Loan modification and loss mitigation matters
    • Post-petition compliance
  • Develop and execute legal strategy throughout the lifecycle of bankruptcy cases.
  • Advise clients on complex bankruptcy, servicing, and investor-guideline issues.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and court filings.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze federal, state, and local bankruptcy laws and case law.
  • Attend hearings and mediations throughout the State of Texas.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining excellent client communication and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the Texas Bar in good standing.
  • 2–3+ years of bankruptcy attorney experience.
  • At least 1 year representing creditors in Texas bankruptcy courts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze case law and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal technology platforms.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
