We are seeking an experienced and consultative Senior Client Consultant to serve as a subject matter expert in pharmacy benefits and plan design. This role plays a critical part in supporting complex client implementations, benefit transitions, and strategic consulting engagements by ensuring benefit designs are accurately documented, aligned with client objectives, and successfully executed.
The ideal candidate combines deep pharmacy benefit expertise with exceptional client-facing skills. They are equally comfortable analyzing complex plan documents behind the scenes and leading strategic discussions with clients, consultants, brokers, and vendors. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor, helping clients navigate benefit design decisions while ensuring successful implementation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple complex client projects simultaneously while ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Review plan documents, claims data, and benefit design specifications to develop recommendations and implementation requirements.
- Serve as the pharmacy benefits subject matter expert for:
- New client implementations
- Third-Party Administrator (TPA) changes
- Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) transitions
- Benefit design audits
- Strategic consulting projects
- Lead consultative discussions with clients, brokers, and vendors regarding benefit design, program selection, and implementation strategy.
- Ensure client benefit intent is accurately translated into documented plan specifications and communicated to all stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with implementation teams, account management, business development, clinical teams, and operational partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend and actively participate in client and vendor meetings, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic resource.
- Provide recommendations regarding benefit design, product offerings, program options, and market best practices.
- Maintain and update project documentation and client-facing project plans.
- Resolve escalated issues and implementation challenges while minimizing project disruption.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies.
- Lead or support strategic initiatives and process improvement projects during non-peak implementation periods.
- Promote best practices and contribute to the ongoing development of team processes and organizational effectiveness.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making while operating with a high degree of autonomy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in pharmacy benefits, benefit implementation, plan design, consulting, or a related field, including PBM experience.
- Proven success in a client-facing consulting, implementation, or advisory role.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex benefit plans and develop client-focused recommendations.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and present complex information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with project management software preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, work independently, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
