Our client is seeking a Property Accountant - Real Estate to support full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial and multifamily assets. This is a full-time, in-office position responsible for accurate, timely financial reporting and coordination with property management and operations teams.
As Property Accountant - Real Estate, you will take ownership of assigned properties from transaction processing through final financial statement delivery, proactively identify and resolve issues, and contribute to improvements that enhance efficiency, transparency, and consistency across the accounting function.
What You’ll Do:
• Own financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties from transaction processing through final financial statement delivery
• Perform month-end close activities including accruals, account reconciliations, financial statement review, and completion of reporting packages
• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations with complete supporting documentation
• Adhere to the established month-end close calendar and participate in variance analysis and review processes
• Analyze financial results and provide clear, accurate insights to property management and ownership
• Monitor cash activity and support cash flow management in coordination with operations and accounts payable
• Perform detailed revenue reviews including tenant charges, lease data, and gross potential rent
• Review revenue and expense activity to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper coding
• Partner with property management and operations teams to resolve financial issues and support decision-making
• Assist with audits, year-end processes, 1099 reporting, and other related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
• At least one year of related accounting experience; real estate experience preferred
• Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with Yardi Voyager or similar accounting systems preferred
• Familiarity with procure-to-pay systems and invoice processing workflows preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-accounting stakeholders
• Strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
