This individual will be a cornerstone of quality, collaboration, and growth as the firm continues to scale its operations and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Accountability
- Apply Lead, Manage, and Accountability (LMA) principles to drive performance and results.
- Approve all technical deliverables, ensuring they are compliant, constructible, and intelligent.
- Oversee QA/QC processes with a focus on operational excellence and a results-first mindset.
- Lead by example—set high standards and foster a culture of clarity and accountability.
- Mentor engineers and CAD staff in both technical skills and professional discipline.
- Build a self-sustaining team where continuous improvement is the norm.
- Establish a culture of learning—training is strategic, not optional.
- Guide staff through full project life cycles: planning, design, permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout.
- Lead design efforts across civil and transportation projects including aviation, roadway, infrastructure, and land development.
- Serve as the technical liaison with clients, municipalities, contractors, and subconsultants.
- Interpret and apply regulations to secure approvals while maintaining timelines and budgets.
- Enforce CAD standards to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
- Utilize tools such as OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and ESRI software.
- Serve as Engineer of Record in Alabama and other states as needed.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, FTA, and DOT regulations.
- Provide technical leadership in contract management, aligning scope, deliverables, and timelines with client and regulatory expectations.
- Help shape the firm’s engineering vision and direction.
- Attract and retain top talent by being a leader others want to follow.
- Represent the firm in industry circles and contribute to branding and visibility efforts.
- Lead projects from concept to closeout with strategic alignment and delivery excellence.
Qualifications
Required
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil Engineering in Alabama (non-negotiable)
- 10+ years of progressive experience in civil/transportation engineering, including QA/QC and stamping
- Proven leadership in team management, project delivery, and technical excellence
- Recognized industry presence—your reputation speaks for itself
- Strong alignment with values such as Excellence, Accountability, Integrity, and Urgency
- Comfortable in a high-performance, high-accountability environment
- Proficient in managing multidisciplinary projects using best practices in project management
- Willingness to travel as needed for projects, client engagement, and team development
- Master’s degree in Engineering Management
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
