We are assisting a reputable, well-established manufacturing company in the Birmingham area with their search for a Senior Accountant. The company is a leader within their industry and has a customer-focused, family-friendly culture with very little overtime outside of year-end. In this position, you will be working in the corporate office performing general ledger accounting, cash management and financial reporting and analysis under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and alongside a very experienced accounting team. Strong proficiency with Excel is a definite must and strong communication skills are also required.

We are assisting a reputable, well-established manufacturing company in the Birmingham area with their search for a Senior Accountant. The company is a leader within their industry and has a customer-focused, family-friendly culture with very little overtime outside of year-end. In this position, you will be working in the corporate office performing general ledger accounting, cash management and financial reporting and analysis under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and alongside a very experienced accounting team. Strong proficiency with Excel is a definite must and strong communication skills are also required.
Specific responsibilities include:
- The preparation of general ledger journal entries and analysis of accounts
- Record cash-related transactions, monitor daily bank balances and prepare bank reconciliations
- Review invoices to ensure proper recording of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Ensure the proper recording of fixed asset additions, dispositions and depreciation
- Assist with month-end close procedures, including account reconciliations and analysis and adjusting journal entries
- Assist with financial statement preparation and operational reports
- Review financial data for adherence to established operating budgets and provide variance analysis on significant differences
- Assist with audit schedules for both internal and external audits
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum of five years’ experience in either a corporate accounting or public accounting environment or a combination thereof
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency using Excel and the ability to manage large amounts of data
- Strong attention to detail and solid time management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
