Senior Accountant of Capital Projects and Due Diligence
$70,000 - $85,000 plus bonus
Birmingham, AL (hybrid/ remote work arrangement)
 
Our client has cultivated an environment that encourages team members to pursue their passions and take pride in their company comradery! As the Senior Accountant of Capital Projects, you will be responsible for managing and integrating the Company’s current and prospective assets in the financial systems. You must be a highly detail-oriented accounting professional with an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices in order to perform complex accounting activities, forecasting and financial analyses with a primary focus on fixed assets.  This position requires a team player who can work cross-functionally and enjoys working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. This position reports directly to the Director and has significant growth opportunity and management visibility. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Research and interpret U.S. GAAP on technical accounting issues and have an up-to-date knowledge of accounting standard updates and their implications
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for fixed assets, other prepaid asset related accounts, and other balance sheet accounts as assigned
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for fixed assets, WIP and other prepaid asset related items, ensuring subsidiary ledger ties to the general ledger
  • Coordinates and reconciles balance sheet accounts including but not limited to intangible assets, debt, fixed assets and prepaid assets
  • Responsible for on-going development, execution and improvement of accounting processes and controls and act as a subject matter expert for fixed asset accounting processes
  • Requires the ability to work with large amounts of complex data to identify and drive process improvement opportunities by developing a thorough understanding of end to end processes
  • Provide accurate support for external auditors
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
 
Requirements:
  • CPA and Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field
  • 2 + years’ experience in accounting, audit or other relevant professional capacity
  • Experience working in retail or healthcare industry preferred
  • Proficient with accounting and reporting software and business intelligence tools
  • Advanced Excel Skills & working with large amounts of data
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills
