Our client, a well-known community leader and respected company with a team-oriented culture, is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their growing company! This individual will receive needed support to get up to speed quickly on specific processes and procedures. They will apply a broad knowledge of advanced accounting methods and handle multiple responsibilities such as month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, creating budgets and financial analysis. This individual will receive needed support to get up to speed quickly on specific processes and procedures. They will apply a broad knowledge of advanced accounting methods and handle multiple responsibilities such as month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, creating budgets and financial analysis. An individual who is self-motivated yet also enjoys working with others will excel in this role and will have the opportunity for growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete accounting duties for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Perform monthly account analysis, research variances, and communicate insights with leadership
- Research and implement accounting guidance for projects and initiatives across the company
- Perform account reconciliations on various general ledger accounts and use problem-solving skills to research and remediate any reconciling differences
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation schedules and related journal entries
- Ensure proper recording of fixed assets including but not limited to additions, disposals, and transfers
- Work closely with other departments to review invoices for possible capitalization
- Apply appropriate use tax to fixed asset invoices and maintain use tax schedule
- Own non-income tax payment process (i.e. business license, sales tax, use tax)
- Assist with the annual financial statement audit by preparing requested workpapers/schedules
- Continuously assess current processes and procedures and suggest changes
- Perform ad-hoc projects, tasks and analysis to help support decisions, resolve issues or support various business needs
Qualifications, Skills, and Proficiencies:
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Active CPA or progress towards CPA preferred
- Self-motivated, able to identify and act on areas for improvement
- Detail-oriented and highly organized/efficient
- Capacity to take on additional responsibilities once up to speed on processes and procedures
- Knowledge of GAAP and best practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technology/software
