Location: Birmingham, AL
Our client, a family owned and boutique public accounting firm, is seeking a staff audit associate. If you desire public accounting experience yet dread overtime, this firm may be the perfect solution! Due to their client base, they offer a steady 40-hour work week throughout the year with minimal travel. This is the perfect opportunity to gain additional public accounting experience in audit or get your foot in the door!
Responsibilities:
- Perform audits, reviews, compilations, and various consulting engagements
- Interpret and analyze financial statement data and draw logical conclusions
- Exercise professional skepticism in the critical assessment of audit evidence
- Research and analyze pertinent client, industry and technical matters
- Work with a team of 0-5 fellow staff members under supervision of a senior, manager and/or partner
- Identify, assess and document controls and weaknesses in client accounting systems
- Thoroughly evaluate assigned areas of financial statements and identify potential points for improvement
- Prepare clear and accurate workpapers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, and eligible to sit for the CPA exam in home office state
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
- Demonstrate understanding of GAAP principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to research and analyze technical issues independently as requested
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Possess a courteous, cooperative and professional attitude
- Display a commitment to acting in the best interest of the Firm
- Practice discretion and discernment in dealing with client and Firm matters
- Overnight stay is required for clients more than 2 hours away. Expected overnight travel is 0-15%. Must have reliable transportation (TBD due to Covid-19).
