We are assisting a large healthcare company in Birmingham with their search for a Vice President of Finance. This role will work closely with the executive team (CFO, COO and CEO) to provide oversight of the accounting function including the coordination of month-end close activities, internal and external financial reporting, strategic planning and coordination of annual audits. This role will manage a team of accountants and will work in conjunction with other company divisions to achieve corporate objectives.


Responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility for the day-to-day corporate accounting function including direct oversight of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, general ledger and cash management areas
  • Prepare and present financial and operational reports including monthly and annual financial statements, utilization and statistical reports, annual budgets and monthly variance analysis, monthly cash position and compliance with long-term strategic goals
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate policies and procedures and budgets
  • Maintain accurate cost reports and summaries in coordination with utilization/statistical and management information
  • Assist with pricing of existing and proposed products and services and monitoring competitiveness of products
  • Assist with the preparation of annual corporate goals and objectives and provide ongoing monitoring of related goals and budgets
  • Participate in business development activities by providing necessary financial, statistical or market analysis
  • Act as the corporate contact with outside business advisors and external agencies


Requirements include:

  • Advanced degree in Accounting or a related field or CPA certification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of a leadership role in a healthcare company
  • Supervisory experience is required with preference given to those who have supervised multiple departments
  • Strong proficiency is current IT platforms and expertise in Excel, Access and Word
  • Strong communication skills with the proven ability to present complex information to executive management teams and outside parties
  • Strong experience with the negotiation and maintenance of employee benefit plans
